So I am not a happy camper right now, because I 0had a blog post written a while ago that needed to be finished. I cannot find it anywhere on here. I know I saved it as a draft I looked and looked, but there is no draft folder to be found. It is totally strange. Oh well guess I will start over. Sorry for the delay, I have been waiting for pictures from the BBQ (I had over 300 of them to choose from:) ) and as I got them about a month ago I was slowly writing the post. Everything happens all at once, & so many distractions when you get on the Internet, ugh!
On June 12 and 13 Camp Craig Allen‘s 8th Annual BBQ Cookoff took place! It was a weekend full of fun, laughter, Awareness, and lots of BBQ! On Fri. mid afternoon I rolled into the host hotel Comfort Suites in Frisco Texas which was right next to the Toyota Stadium where the BBQ was held! As soon as my dad and I put our stuff in the room we went outside to start helping! Here are some of the highlights from that June 12 kickoff party!

I am not sure how to brighten up this picture. On Fri. night there were several bands that performed for the crowd! This was one of them, it was the group TooFarNorth with Little Man Slay! Photo credit: Camp Craig Allen

The judging of Bloody Mary’s & Margaritas (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) went on Fri. night! This is always a highlight to see which team can make up the best contraption! Photo credit: Camp Craig Allen
Saturday came early for my dad and I, but I was super stoked to get things started. It was the 2nd time that I was a coordinator for the kids corral! I will admit I was nervous and stressing a bit hoping that everything was going to come together good because if it did not it would be on my shoulders. This year I had 2 co-coordinators helping me! I could not have done it without them. Thank you Charlie Hughes, and Sarah Rowlett we made a great team! I also brought on board 9 of my homies (from my Home Team @ my church) to volunteer. They were lifesavers as well! As I made my way to the kids corral station I am welcomed by 8 of my homies who were eager to serve where needed. One of my homies, Martin Camacho, brought his really nice camera and was sure to take pictures of the kids corral (the only pictures from the kids corral, thank you Martin)! I also asked him to go around and take pictures of everything, and even though he was not at the BBQ for the whole time he did awesome! Check out what all went on that day!

The person who has taken most of these photos is never in them because he is taking them. So I was so thrilled to see him in some pictures! I guess his wife grabbed his camera and took a few of him! This man was a jack of all trades as he helped out in every area at the kids corral! Photo credit: Martin Camacho

She wanted something major, and when you tell Martin that he will deliver! See next photo… Photo credit: Martin Camacho

Another activity was the “pizza shaker” where small balls were placed in a pizza box with a white piece of paper and on the balls were different colors of paint of the kids choosing. They would then shake it up, and the outcome would be… Photo credit: Martin Camacho

We had little bowls with all kinds of different beads in them For the kids to be able to make and take a bracelet! I remember this little girl picked out the beads all herself and help to thread them on the thread! She was adorable! Photo credit: Martin Camacho

Corralling together for art! This was one of the activities that we had for the kids. It was that we had squares, and they could draw anything they wanted in the square. For those that did not want or could not draw on the cement we had paper and colors to use. Making things accessible for everyone is what we are about! Photo credit: Martin Camacho

When I 1st saw this photo my 1st thought was”Oh look it’s the crack of the pork butt!” ROFL, and literally!! To be honest, I do not even know what pork butt looks like! I am sure I have had it before, I just eat what is put in front of me and do not really ask questions! This could be a bad thing sometimes, LOL!

They gave away trikes like the one shown here to everyone with a physical disability who signed up to get one for a raffle! Nice people!
